Professor, Anthropology

I have long worked on questions related to struggles over Indigenous rights in Latin America, most of this in Bolivia. Alongside Guarani educators and political leaders, I have worked on transforming educational praxis to dismantle colonial models of schooling and counter linguistic racism through projects aimed at revitalizing Guarani in and out of the schools. I have also examined other manifestations of anti-Indigenous racism and resistance in Bolivia, of late relating to the rise and ouster of the country’s first Indigenous president, Evo Morales.
