Professor Wilkin’s is interested in the causes and consequences of racial inequality. She studies White people’s perceptions of victimization because those perceptions predict efforts to reduce social opportunities for Black and Latinx individuals. She also studies how variation in racial and ethnic minorities’ physical appearance shapes the extent to which they are negatively stereotyped and their experiences discrimination.
