My research focuses on the intersection of race and ethnicity in public health, specifically examining health disparities and equity in healthcare access and outcomes. I explore how systemic factors, such as socioeconomic status and cultural differences, influence healthcare quality and treatment adherence among diverse populations. A significant area of interest is the impact of these factors on vaccination campaigns during the COVID-19 pandemic, analyzing vaccination rates in marginalized communities. Additionally, my work on depression among breast cancer patients in Addis Ababa highlights the unique challenges faced by women of different ethnic backgrounds, emphasizing the need for culturally sensitive mental health care. Ultimately, I aim to develop evidence-based strategies that address inequities and improve health outcomes for racially and ethnically diverse populations, advocating for transformative changes in healthcare systems that prioritize inclusivity and equity.
