Deborah Salvo Dominguez

Assistant Professor of Public Health

Professor Salvo Dominguez’s research explores the spatial and place-based factors that influence physical activity and other health-related behaviors, with the goal of reducing health disparities and promoting health equity. Specifically, her work focuses on elucidating the complex, context-specific relations between the built environment and health; documenting and ameliorating geospatial health disparities, with an emphasis on Latin American populations; and using and improving objective measures to quantify physical activity and geospatial exposures (social & built environment). Salvo Dominguez is also very active in leading capacity building efforts for the fields of physical activity and spatial epidemiology in Latin America and other low- and middle-income global settings.
