Garrett Pekarek is interested in historical processes of colonialism and imperialism in relation to contemporary migration flows. He is particularly interested in Latin America and the Caribbean and the ways in which American intervention have facilitated the movement of people from these regions to the U.S. and the racialization faced by migrants upon arrival.
