My research focuses on addressing structural barriers that impact the economic empowerment and public health of young women in low-resource settings. I examine how economic empowerment interventions influence outcomes such as sexual risk behaviors, intimate partner violence (IPV), HIV, and mental health challenges, particularly among young women living with HIV who are victims of IPV. These interventions are essential for understanding the unique vulnerabilities faced by young women across diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. Employing a multidisciplinary approach, my work integrates insights from public health, social work, and behavioral sciences to assess the effectiveness of these interventions. By contextualizing these efforts within broader socio-cultural dynamics, my research aims to uncover how structural inequalities shape health outcomes and inform targeted strategies for enhancing the wellbeing of these young women.
