Michael Esposito

Assistant Professor, Sociology

Michael Esposito’s research explores how both historical and contemporary racialized systems (e.g., residential segregation; the criminal legal system) – and their constituent institutions – confer significant privileges to those racialized as white; heap hazards on those racialized as Black; and how these privileges and hazards coalesce into pronounced health disparities across populations. He also studies statistical methodologies that help connect critical theoretical perspectives on race and ethnicity to quantitative evidence.
