Saria is broadly interested in studying well-being among forcibly displaced and immigrant communities, both in the United States and globally. Her research interests are informed by her prior work as a psychosocial support provider for refugee caregivers and children in Lebanon. She seeks to understand how trauma and stress experienced pre-, during, and post-migration impact well-being, to examine how contextual factors influence outcomes for racial and ethnic minority groups affected by displacement and migration, and to identify individual- and community-level protective factors. Saria aims to translate this knowledge into practice by using it to inform the design and evaluation of migration policies and culturally-responsive interventions.
