Former Clinical Fellow, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Newborn Medicine

Rachel Witt is interested in the role of structural racism in racial/ethnic health disparities in preterm infant health outcomes. Her work examines the impact of neonatal intensive care (NICU) hospitalization on parental stress and mental health; the role of institutionalized racism and health care provider implicit bias in racial/ethnic disparities in NICU quality of care; and the effects of race-related stress on breastfeeding. As a neonatal-perinatal medicine fellow, she is also involved in quality improvement initiatives with the goal of achieving health equity in breastfeeding initiation and continuation to discharge.
