Doctoral Student, Occupational Therapy

Diana Castellanos is interested in increasing diversity within the healthcare field and is determined to expose minority groups to the field of occupational therapy. As a CRE2 graduate fellow, she wants to focus on developing a mentorship program within a St. Louis Public high school. Starting Fall 2022, she will run a pilot mentorship program at Gateway High School, a school located south of St. Louis, where the students’ demographics are 87% minority. This mentorship program will expose students to OT, and guide them through college applications, SAT preparation, financial assistance, interviewing skills, and resume editing. This program was initiated by WU-COTAD, an organization that strives to increase diversity within OT, who will be supporting the program through their volunteer members.
