Deidi Olaya Rodriguez

PhD Candidate, Brown School- Social Work

Deidi Olaya’s research focuses on women’s bargaining power, economic empowerment, gender norms, and intimate partner violence (IPV), with a particular emphasis on Latin America. At the core of her work is the question of how macro-level factors influence IPV prevention. She explores how economic, social, and political empowerment, at both the individual and societal levels, can enhance efforts to prevent IPV. Her research broadly includes factors across different political, racial and cultural contexts across Latin American countries. Latin America is exceptionally diverse economically, politically, racially, and culturally.
