Armin Sauermann

Phd Student, Arts & Sciences/Sociology

Armin’s research explores gun culture and the politics of firearms in the United States, focusing on the cultural and systemic factors that have led to the country’s uniquely high levels of civilian gun ownership and its societal consequences. Given the racialized nature of both gun ownership and gun violence, Armin studies how these factors intersect with broader social and political processes. His ongoing work includes projects on how neighborhood exposure to gun violence differs by race and the role of racial threat in shaping individual attitudes toward gun policy.
