My research explores how Latina adolescents at risk for suicidal thoughts and behaviors (STBs) experience social connectedness through participation in the Life is Precious (LIP) program. LIP is a community-based, treatment-adjacent intervention specifically designed to address the unique mental health needs of Latina adolescents by promoting family relationships, academic support, and creative expression, all within a culturally responsive framework. My study focuses on how Latina adolescents perceive social connectedness across family, peer, school, and community domains, considering the cultural and social factors that influence their mental health. By incorporating perspectives from adolescents, their families, and providers, this research provides a comprehensive understanding of the role of culturally grounded interventions in fostering social connectedness and reducing suicide risk. The findings will highlight the importance of addressing mental health disparities among ethnoracially minoritized populations, specifically Latina adolescents, and contribute to the development of more effective, culturally responsive mental health interventions for this vulnerable group.
