Professor of Pediatrics, Infectious Diseases; ICTS; Institute of Public Health

Jason Newland’s research has been dedicated to improving the use of antibiotics in children. Racial disparities have been observed in outpatient prescribing of antibiotics but has not been evaluated for hospitalized children. His work has focused on the implementation of antimicrobial stewardship programs and how best to de-implement unnecessary antibiotics. How race/ethnicity influences prescribing has not been established, which is interesting to him. Furthermore, Jason is involved with COVID-19 research in both testing and school based projects.
