My research focuses on community-based rehabilitation approaches and support services to enhance community living and participation among people with traumatic brain injury (TBI). TBI disproportionately affects people of color, yet these groups have been severely underrepresented in research on rehabilitation interventions, community resource and support needs, and long-term care needs. Using community-engaged research methods, participatory co-design of interventions and services, and qualitative research, I investigate the specific needs of people from racially and socioeconomically underrepresented groups. My goal is to develop equitable and culturally tailored rehabilitation programs and community services to support full inclusion and participation in the community after brain injury.
