John Daniel Ibembe is interested in the intersections of gender, sexuality, mobility, and risk within most at-risk populations that are known to experience health disparities due to stigma. His work examines how women that experience income and occupational precarity engage in sexual behavior that places them at health risk, how they mask their identities when engaging in health care due to stigma, and how demographics like age and ethnicity determine access to work. John has worked on interdisciplinary teams including scientists and geographers, but more specifically in public health, medical anthropology, and sociology.
