Milena’s research interests encompass investigating interventions in the built environment that encourage active mobility in urban areas. She is equally dedicated to tackling health disparities in low- and middle-income countries and examining how race and ethnicity intersect with livability levels in cities. As an interdisciplinary scholar, Milena recognizes the intrinsic connection between urban design and public health, highlighting that poor urban planning decisions can lead to unequal spatial configurations and exacerbate social and health inequalities. Through her work, Milena aspires to foster more equitable and healthier communities in urban settings in Latin America and globally.
