Sicong Sun

Postdoctoral Research Associate, Brown School

As an applied interdisciplinary researcher, Sicong (Summer) Sun’s scholarship centers on the intersections of racism, socioeconomic status, and health. The central focus of Dr. Sun’s work has been to investigate how racial/ethnic inequities in asset holding and financial capability—manifestations of historical and contemporary structural racism—act as upstream social determinants that fundamentally shape the downstream determinants of health. Sun’s dissertation investigates racial/ethnic differences in the relationship between wealth and health. Sun’s research aims to inform asset building and financial inclusion policies and programs to advance racial, socioeconomic, and health equity in the U.S. and global contexts.
